Link QR Code: Point to Any URL and Track Every Scan
A Link QR code is a dynamic QR type that points to any URL you choose. TLinky encodes a short link into the code, not the URL itself.
That means you can change the destination at any time without reprinting the code, and every scan gets logged in your dashboard.
This is the type to reach for whenever a QR code needs to send people to a webpage, whether that page might change later or not.
How a Link QR Code Works
TLinky generates a short link behind the scenes and encodes that short link into the QR code, not your destination URL directly.
Scanning the code sends the visitor to TLinky’s short link, which then forwards them instantly to whatever URL you have set as the destination.
Because the QR code only ever points to the short link, editing the destination in your dashboard updates where every printed copy leads.
No new code needs to be generated or reprinted.
When to Use a Link QR Code
Use it for anything you might need to redirect later: a seasonal landing page, a product listing, a social profile, or a signup form.
Use it anywhere you want scan data, since Link, like every dynamic type, comes with full click analytics in TLinky’s dashboard.
If the destination will never change and you do not need tracking, a static type may be simpler, though Link still works fine either way.
How to Create a Link QR Code in TLinky
- Log in to your TLinky account, click Create, then select QR Code.
- Name the code. A domain is assigned automatically based on your plan for dynamic types.
- Choose Link from the dynamic type list.
- Paste the destination URL.
- Customize the templates, colors, and design, click Generate QR, then Save Changes.
You can download the finished code as SVG, PNG, WebP, or PDF, and add a logo or frame during customization.
Editing the Destination Later
Open the QR code from your dashboard list and select Edit QR from the 3-dot menu.
Update the URL and save. Every existing printed copy now points to the new destination.
This is the main advantage over a static code: a menu redesign, a moved storefront, or an expired campaign page never means reprinting materials.
FAQ
Does changing the destination break the QR code?
No. The QR code image itself never changes. Only the short link behind it updates, so previously printed codes keep working with the new destination.
Can I see how many people scanned my Link QR code?
Yes. TLinky logs every scan, and you can view the statistics from the 3-dot menu on that QR code’s card in your dashboard.
Is a Link QR code the same as a regular short link?
It is the same underlying short link technology, just encoded into a scannable QR image instead of shared as clickable text.
